SUSAN SARANDON SAYS HOLLYWOOD STILL DENIES HER ROLES OVER PALESTINE SUPPORT VENICE, Italy, September 7, 2026 — GPC.NEWS — Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon says she is still losing film roles because of her public support for Palestinians, more than two years after controversy surrounding comments she made about the Israel-Gaza conflict. Speaking at the Venice Film Festival, Sarandon said the consequences of her political activism continue to affect her career in Hollywood. The actress said she had been informed that agencies and industry representatives were advising productions against hiring her because of her public position on the conflict. Sarandon has been one of Hollywood's most prominent celebrity voices supporting Palestinian civilians and calling for an end to the fighting. Her activism previously resulted in professional repercussions. In 2023, talent agency UTA dropped Sarandon following controversial remarks she made at a pro-Palestinian rally in New York. Sarandon later apologized for the wording of those remarks, saying her comments had been a mistake and had failed to properly acknowledge the long history of discrimination and violence experienced by Jewish communities. She has nevertheless continued to speak publicly about Palestinian rights and the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.
